To be honest, often when I’m sitting in front of my computer late at night, tired after my dayjob, I ask myself “Why the hell am I doing this?”. But then, like today, I discover something and in an instant I realize that this is one of those moments of bliss, moments that make blogging worth it. What I’m talking about is the first collection of Protagonist, a collection of refined essentials designed by Kate Wendelborn, that makes its debut on The Line, an exciting New York based concept and e-commerce site. The Line is the latest endeavour from fashion stylists Morgan Wendelborn and Vanessa Traina, with their vision to sell a quintessential range of carefully selected goods from emerging names across fashion, home and beauty (like Reed Krakoff, Vince, Christophe Lemaire or Rodin). And all those goods also come together in the intimate context of an”off-line home”: The Apartment – a boutique that will be the starting point for discussions, workshops, screenings, dinners and other events.
Eytys is a Stockholm based unisex sneaker brand with the aim to produce the perfect platform sneaker for generation Y: “Born in the boom years of the 80’s, grew up with the street culture of the 90’s, and subsisted on a heavy diet of everything — and anything - which has always been just a click away.” Their first shoe style is called “Mother”, a classic low-top sneaker with a thick vulcanized rubber sole which is now available in their new webshop in leather, canvas and suede in different colours. Love.
This is the apartment of the founder and owner of Swedish design store Artilleriet. Oh how I’d love to run my own design store one day – and I would be my best customer, that’s for sure. The first thing I would sell (and buy) is the writing desk from No Early Birds in the picture above.
Today I’m loving Stattmann Neue Moebel, a new label that was founded by the siblings Nicola and Oliver Stattmann, fourth generation of a cabinet maker’s family from Ascheberg in Northern Germany. Their aim is to produce modern, long-lasting and solid furniture made of wood and other ecological materials – unpretentious with surprising details such as very stable plug-in joints requiring neither glue nor screws. So if sometimes it happens to you that you start dancing on your chairs, make sure it’s a Stattmann.
