HIEN LE – SS 2011

Here are some impressions of the beautiful SS2011 collection of Hien Le, a young Berlin based designer who had his debut during the berlin fashion week in summer 2010. I love the simplicity and the subtleness of his clothes. His SS2011 collection comes with lots of white, blue and apricot and amazing transparent fabrics.

TEATUM JONES – AW 2011

Here are some impressions from the Teatum Jones AW 2011 Collection. London based designers Catherine Teatum and Rob Jones again chose weighty stuff for their collection’s theme – they were inspired by Elsie Knocker and Mairi Chisholm, two famous British women who survived the First World War.

The collection tells the story of these two brave women through a perfect harmony between the masculine and the feminine – men’s tailoring fabrics in dust–covered–blue together with youthful tones of stone and rose water washed silks.

20 HANGERS WARDROBE

I finally found a solution for my narrow entry: The 20 Hangers Wardrobe from brilliant Italian designer Alice Rosignoli. With its light structure and designed to be fixed on ceiling or wall it’s perfect for all small spaces. Made of 20 common wood hangers and black ropes it transforms everyday goods into a new function. So simple it’s genius!

MILLENEUFCENTQUATREVINGTQUATRE

Days are getting warmer now, but in the shadow it sometimes still feels kind of cold. How nice would it therefore be to wrap oneself in one of these beautiful high quality silk scarves from the young French brand Milleneufcentquatrevingtquatre founded by Amélie Charroin and Marie Colin-Madan. “Milleneufcentquatrevingtquatre” is the year of birth of the two textile designers who graduated from ENBA, originally specialised in high class print design. Their prints are influenced by music-video clips, painting, art history and come up in a very fresh and unique way.

COTE FW 2011

I love the clean chic of the fabulous FW 2011 collection from Italian newcomer Cote. Geometric shapes are combined in a very sophisticated way with high contrasting fabrics like washed cupro, leather, tulle and wool crepe in grey, black, ivory and tobacco shades. For the FW collection the stand-alone collars – Cote’s characteristic feature – are made of leather in various versions. I’m really looking forward for more!

NGA WAIATA RINGS

Artist and jewelry designer Nga Waiata from New Zealand is the creator of these enchanting mineral rings. The mystical name “Nga Waiata” – pronounced naaaa-y-a-taa – is a Maori name and means “the songs” or “music”. The description of each of her pieces is poetical as well, for example: “pounamu rings – a treasured gift. often signifies peace and has immense spiritual value. emanates great strength within. mana!” No wonder I’m totally captivated by the charm of the minerals’ tender colours combined with sturdy, recycled New Zealand native woods.
