TEATUM JONES – AW 2011

Here are some impressions from the Teatum Jones AW 2011 Collection. London based designers Catherine Teatum and Rob Jones again chose weighty stuff for their collection’s theme – they were inspired by Elsie Knocker and Mairi Chisholm, two famous British women who survived the First World War.

The collection tells the story of these two brave women through a perfect harmony between the masculine and the feminine – men’s tailoring fabrics in dust–covered–blue together with youthful tones of stone and rose water washed silks.

COTE FW 2011

I love the clean chic of the fabulous FW 2011 collection from Italian newcomer Cote. Geometric shapes are combined in a very sophisticated way with high contrasting fabrics like washed cupro, leather, tulle and wool crepe in grey, black, ivory and tobacco shades. For the FW collection the stand-alone collars – Cote’s characteristic feature – are made of leather in various versions. I’m really looking forward for more!

LAND FW 2011

I’m totally smitten with the Dutch newcomer label Land which I first spotted at Love Aesthetics. The two designers – Linda Erkens and Guido Rijkse – create minimalistic pieces that aren’t bound to time. Here are some impressions they sent to me of their fantastic Fall/Winter collection. I love the subtle combination of plain fabrics, clear cuts and neon colours and the self-confident attitude that goes along with it. Can’t wait for more collections to come!

KALDA FW 2011

These are my favourites of the Rjufland collection from Icelandic newcomer label Kalda. Kalda was founded in Reykjavik by sisters Katrin Alda and Rebekka Rafsndottir in 2010. I’m really sold on the collection’s laid back attitude and the convincing mixture of printed silk, leather and wool. I’d love to wear it at work.
